Kathleen Kennedy’s Husband Confirms the Lucasfilm President Has Signed on For Three More Years

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has signed on for three more years at Lucasfilm, and her husband Frank Marshall has confirmed it through a retweet on Twitter.

On the morning of November 15th, an article posted by Puck News gave us an inside scoop on the reportedly delayed Star Wars film, Rogue Squadron, in which it is said that the reasoning is due to ‘creative differences‘ between Michelle Rejwan (a producer of the film, and long time collaborator at Lucasfilm) and the director Patty Jenkins, known for her Wonder Woman films.

While the news about the film has yet to be confirmed, another interesting piece in the same article was that Kathleen Kennedy’s contract for Lucasfilm has been renewed for another 3 years. In 2018, her contract had been renewed for another 3 years as well, with it ending just last week. With no news that Kennedy would step down, it was almost certain that she had already renewed the contract.

Well as of November 15th, the long time Hollywood producer’s husband, Frank Marshall, has confirmed through a retweet that the news is in fact true. And interestingly enough, the tweet is a direct call out of the hateful people who target Kathleen Kennedy and claim she is out to destroy the company she has put her life into. The original tweet was made by @CultureRave, a site reporting the rumor that she had been renewed, but Twitter user @EricVespe quotes the tweet as follows:

“But how could this be? A bunch of sputtering mad YouTube randos with walls of Funkos behind them said their uncle’s cousin’s roommate works at Lucasfilm and heard Kennedy was on the way out!”

The tweet was later retweeted by Frank Marshall’s official account, which means it is safe to say the rumors are correct. This also gives credibility to the rest of the article by Puck News, and how it is possible that Rogue Squadron was delayed due to creative differences.

With much content on the horizon for not only Star Wars, but Indiana Jones and their new movie Children of Blood and Bone, it only makes sense that the president who started it all gets to continue her journey for the next three years, and here at SWE, we wish Kathleen Kennedy the best in her journey in a galaxy far, far away!
